5 out of 5 stars LITTLE BOX OF TRICKS   May 22, 2008

Ideally, Apple would create an ipod with built-in DAB radio and maybe one day they will. Until then this little addition from Roberts does the trick. I have only used it a couple of times so far and it has worked perfectly well, no problems (NW England) picking up plenty of services, especially my fave - Planet Rock - and with none of the 2 minute auto shut off problem noted elsewhere. I do update the software on my nano though, and perhaps that is the answer. I also listen through the ipod headset, which appears to give a better signal than the 'phones supplied with the Robi. I have yet to try the FM radio so cannot comment on that.

The unit is simple to operate and the instructions are clear to understand. Yes, it'll drain the ipod battery more frequently, it's not ideal having another box (however small) and another lead to contend with, but if you like listening to DAB programmes this is the next best option and much easier than travelling with a so-called portable DAB radio. I recommend it to you!

5 out of 5 stars It does what it it says on the box   February 3, 2008

I saw the sceptical reviews but since I own 2 roberts dab radios which are excellent I decided to go ahead and buy. I was right it works perfectly, I clearly says on box and wbsite Nano 2nd generation and later mine is 2nd generation and it worked perfectly in dab, fm and remote mode. Picked up all available stations 1st time and we live in a weak signal area. occaisonally have to move earphone cable a little but it works with those provided and my sennhauser earhones. Its great! 5*

5 out of 5 stars Top stuff! Great for any iPod owner!   January 4, 2008

Just picked up one of these today from John Lewis, and I must say I am very impressed with it, in comparison you can either buy the Apple version, of which is around 40, and just has basic remote functions and a very basic FM Radio with no screen, or you can buy this Robi product for just under 50. I picked the Robi and I'm glad i did! I live in Sheffield, and the reception is fantastic for me whenever I am moving around the house, which I was really suprised at, when you consider that the product is very small, and relies on the headphones for a arieal. The device is very small, no taller than 5cm, and no wider than 3cm, and has a very handy clip on the back. I use it on my second generation Nano, and it works perfectly. FM is brilliant and so is DAB, barely ever dropping a signal, and the remote functions perfectly. A few points for improvement, it would be that the buttons the the Robi do not control the menus on the ipod and are very basic, just play/pause, rewind and fast forward, but you can't really grumble at this price. Well done Roberts!!! Another fantastic product you have managed to churn out, which has great features as well as fantastic functionallity. Definately a great buy for any iPod owner who likes to listen to the radio!

5 out of 5 stars A brilliant addition for your iPod   January 6, 2008

I love this tiny but powerful DAB radio - it is a brilliant user-friendly gadget to use with your iPod. Mine was one of my favourite Christmas presents. My iPod goes everywhere with me, and in future, the robi will go too.

The design is very attractive and complements the iPod perfectly. It connects to the iPod, and the earphones attach to the robi, which means that you have extra lengths of cable. However, this is not a problem because the robi has a hinged clip to fasten it to the side of a pocket or the edge of a jacket. The clip makes cable management easy, and supports the robi so that there are no unwieldy trailing loops of cable.

In my experience, the radio also has excellent radio reception and a stunning sound quality. (I am not aware that I live in an area that is exceptional so far as DAB reception is concerned.) You can use the earphones provided, or use your own - in either case, the earphone cable acts as the aerial.

The build quality of the robi is impressive. It has a sturdy, well-finished gloss and a clear display screen which shows the name of the radio station.

You can easily set up a favourites list of available radio stations.

Some gadgets disappoint, and fall into the "I should never have bought it" category, but this is not one of them. Thd robi is a gadget that will get plenty of use and be a continuing delight to have.

bouhgt one from argos today very good....my robi is paired with my ipod video it was no trouble setting up and worked as the manual said it would.
the features ,,,DAB..FM..REMOTE ,,worked as xpected and it's shortcomings are like any other device of the same type..reception will depend on the signal strength in your area...dab will crackle a bit if you are on the move and fm reception is par with most fm receivers ..the remote works quiet well but don't xpect to b able to xplore all the sub menus on your ipod...yes it seemed a bit xpensive but dab devices generally are!!apparently it's not compatible with the latest ipods so if you have a classic or the latest nanos check first!!
