Sennheisers quality cannot be denied, it's as simple as that.
After buying my ipod, i bought a set of 'sennheisers' on an auction site at a ridiculously low price, and to this day i reckon they were fakes. They were tinny and fell apart after a month. When i went on to purchase these on Amazon, i had a nagging at the back of my mind on my previous purchase. i had owned other sennheisers previous and decided to plump for the CX500 Earphone.
What a good decision that was!
These are the best headphones i have owned. I am back to the in ear phones as they tend to block out external noise far better that even the expensive noise reduction ones on the market I have tried. The bass is great for the money, and they come with several sizes of ear plugs to allow convenience for all ear sizes(?!) they really are comfortable and look the part too with my black ipod.
would highly recommend these, you wont find a better set of phones for this price!

Bought these headphones for 35 (amazon market-place), and for the price think they're excellent. Upgraded to these from the cheaper Creative labs alternative , and although they look exactly the same, I could hear the difference straight away.
The CX500s give a much punchier sound without compromising sound clarity. The broad frequency range means they make all types of music sound good. If you like feeling your music rather than just listening to it, but don't want to spend too much, I strongly recommend these.
And you thought the CX300's were good! May 28, 2008

I just purchased these the other day from one of the Amazon sellers, and it arrived the next day for a smidgen over 20.
I own a pair of CX300, which are a great pair of earphones; much better than my previous Sony MDR-EX71SLW earphones which fell apart (a common problem with the Sony's!).
I decided to buy a new pair after the wife stole my CX300's, and came across these CX500's. All I can say is Wow! They really have taken it up a notch or two. The bass response is the best I've heard in any earphones so far. The mid's and high's are great too. I've tried it on a range of tracks from hard hitting Pendulum tracks to Classical, and all sound very crisp and well defined. You really don't need to go for anything more expensive than this.
You get numerous earbuds so you can surely find a decent fit. Also comes with a handy little pouch, a shirt clip and a nice little thingy to coil your cable around :)
The CX500's should be standard with all iPod's.

I decided it was time to upgrade my trusty CX 300s,the key to the CX 500 phones is to run them in and make sure you use the right size silicon ear buds,I actually ended up using my old ones from my CX 300s since they were the largest and best fit, plus gave me the best bass and balance of sound.
Do note the silicone bud covers do change size and power of the bass so try them all.
Sound wise very good bass ,clean mid and treble is clear without getting distorted.I would say they are quite neutral overall and will fit a wide range of music...Volume control is nice and even at full volume no distortion.These are probably best you can buy within its price range.

Hi Guys & Girls,
Now I have spent about a week trawling through reviews of various headphones. I have some Bose on ear headphones which are I must say amazing ! Rich deep tones and bass that is out of this world. Use it with my Itouch and Mac.
Enough of the plug of the Bose however there is a reason why I bring this into the equation. Now the On ear Bose headphones are slightly big for commuting and not for the run of mill ordinary worker commute ie walk to bus stop get on bus get of bus and then get on train etc. I think you understand me.
My review is for these headphones on an ordinary commute day to day.
Now the stuff you have been waiting for the whole truth and nothing but the truth ie the nitty gritty about these babies. Got my headphones today will not bother you like some others who seem weird crazy obsessed with the packaging...(very odd just open up and use them come on !!)
The headphones come with a few alternative size ear buds which can be swapped and changed to your desired fit. Played around with a few and found the small ones fit best for me. I stress for me. They also have a handy volume control attached to the headphone cable will not bore you with the details but suffice to say volume high volume low. Armed with my Itouch full of music and a few films left the house to weather the daily commute ie a little walk then on to packed bus and then to train station and on to noisy train.
Now here is the bonus which is when I knew these were the best headphones well in ear that I have owned. When I walked out the door and switched on my my itouch I was literally in my own world. I could not hear a thing outside all background noise was cut out. I had rich bass sounds none of this rubbing of wire or tinny sounds which I have read in other reviews (Very misleading please ignore these comments in reviews of this product)...They must have different headphones on !!
These have Crystal clarity with the bass and sound definition which left me speechless. These are superb headphones and for the price as an upgrade to those crap Itouch headphones is a steal. (Apple guys if you are out there sort this out. You give us a visionary product with these crap white earphones it is a disgrace, come on give your product some dignity !. Those little white earphones are iconic and in times past will be looked at with fond memories however one thing will also be remembered they are crap headphones !)
Enough of my rant !
Now I am a guy that likes to switch from music on the bus to watching a film on the train. With the standard Itouch headphones this was impossible because on a packed train to much background noise came thru so I just gave up. Now for the first time with these headphones I am able to watch a film without any interference. Truly a new dawn for my commute ie total background noise blackout experience.
These are truly pound for pound the best in ear headphones on the market at the moment. if you are looking for that inevitable upgrade from your standard headphones for your MP3 etc trust me these are the ones for you.
Please ignore reviews that say anything less than these headphones being exceptional. Unfortunately my style of writing may not win you over but I hope that the general feeling which I am trying to convey comes thru.
For those that do buy these as a result of this review come back and write an honest review (minus stupid comments on opening packaging). Like I say these came this morning and I road tested them this morning and I give them10/10.
Nearly forgot the headphones are really comfortable and stay in my ears which has been a problem with previous in ear headphones I have had in the past. Read a review that said when you push them in and find that spot you know that it is all good baby. (You will understand what I mean when you get these). True test was when I was on a train platform a big boy train came rushing past I did not even hear a sound.
Big point to note you have to be on full alert with these on ie walking around the streets etc could be quite dangerous as you literally cannot hear a thing other then your tunes.
Another little note they come with a nice bog standard pouch. Just stuck all the little etc in there and do not even take the pouch out I will not bore you with the details.
My headphones in true commute style are wrapped around my itouch. No worries in my head that they will break etc the build quality of the headphones leave me confident that I have nothing to fear.
