I purchased this item in order to use Skype on my iPod Touch 2nd generation. It works great and I'm happy I spent a little more and bought a genuine iPod accessory. The earphones are standard ipod ones but they have a neat little volume control and microphone on the right ear cord which gives good quality through Skype.
Delivery took just 3 days to get it to my home in the North of Scotland, brilliant.
The volume control and mic will work with iPod nano (4th gen), iPod classic (120gb) and iPod touch (2nd gen). The audio is supported by all iPods.

Bought to go with my Touch - works fine, volume control handy and enables use of Skype for free calls when you've got a wifi connection.

The sound quality is excellent and the remote is a brilliant idea, which I've been waiting for as its so much easier than having to fumble around in your pocket! Also, the microphone's recording quality is surprisingly good for such a small mic! NB The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). The remote is supported by iPod shuffle (3rd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models.

brilliant quality with useful volume control and skipping tracks back and forward. saves you having to take ur ipod out! also a very handy microphone which enables people with ipod touch, such as myself, to use shazam!

I am pleasantly surprised by how well the tiny microphone works. As long as you set the volume control fairly high it picks up your voice and replays remarkably well. I bought it to do my bird surveys where it's a pest to have to carry a notebook and pencil as well as binoculars-- you need at least three hands! With this device I'll be able to record what I see in the field to my iTouch and transcribe my sightings when I get home.
It also has the advantage of having controls near to the earpiece so, if you have you iPod/iTouch in your pocket you don't have to fish it out to change the volume, change track or pause play.
Update April 2010: I've just got an iPhone and it is with it that these earphones come into their own. I like to listen to podcasts and books as I walk in the hills, but, in the past, found that I had to carry a phone and an iPod and if I got a phone call but the time I'd turned off my iPod, found my phone the call had switched to voice-mail. Sometimes I didn't even hear the phone ring as I was listening to something. The situation is now transformed as the phone ringing turns off the audio and all I have to do is press the centre button on the microphone to answer the call and to speak to the caller. When the call is ended the phone turns off and the audio recording re-starts: brilliant!
