5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!!!   January 13, 2008

I havn't been able to find a better speaker for my ipod. The only down side i thought was that it had no alarm, which i wanted. This can easily be sorted by leaving the speaker on with your ipod in, and on your ipod set the alarm and there you go!

The bass and treble can be changed via the remote, but to be honest with you the settings that it comes on are fine.
The speaker can handle dance/electronic, heavy rock, indie rock, all the xmas classics!!! and i tested some of my dads music on it (cat stevens, ABBA...) and they were all handeld very well.
It can produce low notes and the high notes without sounding tinny or crackeling like some did.
The speaker can go exeptionally loud and manages to blast through my whole house! Even from a distance the sound is a good qulity.
I was temped by some of the cheeper options, but decided to splash out on this one, it was definatly worth it. I don't often write reviews, but thought as this didn't have any and it is just great, that it deserved one!

The only con is that it does't have a raido. This should not put you off though as most of the other options that have a raido in the same price brand are not great. Most sound rather tinny or just sound muffeled.

Overall a fantastic product and if you are thinking about buying it, i reccomed you do!
Hope this helps....

5 out of 5 stars Logic3 really know about sound   January 15, 2008

First impression is how can this little cube match up to a very expensive stereo?

It takes about an hour for your brain to accept that this little thing is resonating clearly though out the entire house and hardly breaking a sweat, in fact at close proximity your ears hurt before there is any distortion.

The various range of the 6 speakers makes for a really clear and fast responsive sound in all music types.

A very impressive piece of kit for the price and brings new life into your music.

I have had this 2 days now and i'm well impressed and i' not saying it from a newbie to ipod docks view! I used to own the mm50 and the Bose and sold them as i wanted something better, tried the B&W Zepelin and i now have a Fatman itube carbon with Fatboy speakers at a cost of 900 and the sound from that is simply amazing and in my eyes will never be touched as an ipod system. The thing is tho i can't move the fatman around as it sits on a self in our front room so wanted something for the kitchen/garden for the barbecues this summer. After looking at many reveiws and prices i thought id give this a try due to its compact size and reasonable price. Well i have to say i'm well impressed its ideal for the kitchen and putting in the garden on those party nights. Although its small the sound does not represent this at all, its as good as the Bose but at a 1/3 of the price. Infact i would say its better than the Bose as although the Bose sounded okay it was a let down in the base department and this goes a lot louder without distorting at loud levels. If you have tracks with plenty of base this does not dissapoint and you can actually feel it through the floor from this little box which really is an accomplishment Without a doubt and from my past experience of sounddocks you won't beat this for 90 and it will shock you how good a sound can come from such a small piece of kit. Buy it now its superb!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant - A "Must Have" for your iPod!   March 13, 2008

Sound quality which matches our Bose system, at a fraction of the price. This is easily the best speaker for your iPod. Compact unit, awesome sound across all genres. Easily goes to ear splitting volume before distorting. Don't need adapters for the dock and charges your iPod, too! Works with other MP3/4s but the connections are underneath for those, so bit fiddly. Amazon has the best price.

I've had no problems with it going into standby at low volumes. If you do, suggest: Go into your iTunes library, highlight the track & right click it. Choose "get info" and increase the volume using the volume bar. Save & re-sync. This is more relevant to ripped tracks - should already be OK for purchased ones.

The only cons I can see are: Bit of a diddy remote control but works OK & at greater than published range. There is nowhere to put the dock cover when the unit is in use, so it is going to get lost/trodden on at some point if u r not careful! Shuffle iPods not supported by the dock (they never are) but looks like you could connect them via cable to underneath the unit, tho haven't tried this myself.

This is a well built piece of kit that looks the business. The sound quality is excellent with rich powerful bass (that you feel) & very good mids & trebles. After 3 weeks use I have not experienced the Jivebox going into standby on "quiet tracks, or when being played on low volume. As with most systems,I feel that it is at at its best at mid (i.e. you can still have a conversation) & loud volume levels as you can then very clearly hear the detail in any genre of music. I also listened to the Griffin Amplifi which I feel is on a par with regard bass but can be a bit muddy with the mids - not a problem with the Jivebox as you can just adjust the bass & treble with the slim remote to suit your taste (as well as change albums, tracks, etc). The dock for Ipods is well designed as you just sit your ipod on the connector & push it back to rest on the inbuilt support(no need for additional dock connectors etc). Before buying this,I was very sceptical that a 7 inch square cube could produce quality sound, But if you buy one I'm sure that you will be equally amazed at what it pumps out! In summary,if you enjoy high quality sound I think that you will be really pleased with the Jivebox.
