This is the device I've been waiting for....
So, whats special about it? As a remote, it functions as well as, if not better than the apple marketed item - but to have DAB as well is clincher. Reception for me was crystal clear - i enjoyed listening to test match special on Five Live Xtra - and for me, that was the winning point. No more carrying around a portable digital receiver. The Unit itself is tiny, not much bigger than the apple FM remote. You can recieve DAB stations, FM radio and also control your iPod from this remote.
In short a great item, and worth every penny

After reading the mixed reviews I was apprehensive. I'd previously heard this 'toy' advertised on Classic FM - the channel I listen to most. But I'm really pleased with it - perfect reception at home, on the train and in central London. A really nifty little gadget. I've got a 5th generation 80GB Ipod and the two work perfectly together. It found almost as many channels as my Pure digital radio at home! No complaints at all.
Classic and 3G nano problem now fixed with 1.1.2 firmware April 30, 2008

To any reading these reviews - there was a compatibility problem between the Robi and the Apple iPod Classic and 3G Nano models which appeared when Apple released version 1.1 of the iPod software for these models. Version 1.1.1 did not solve this. Version 1.1.2 released on 30th April 2008 does solve this, and the Robi now no longer turns off after two minutes. Thanks Apple! I can now listen for hours at at time. One minor new problem replaces that old one. If Robi is in DAB or FM mode and you use Robi to switch off your iPod, then you will generally need to use the iPod controls to switch back on again, and it may require a couple of On-Off cycles. No such problem if you switch off with Robi in Remote Control mode.

I purchased a robi and found it very easy to use indeed as a DAB/ FM and Remote for a Video G5 ipod. I was completely blown away with its size and sound quality. This completes the functionality of the ipod. Although it comes with its own earphones i use my noise reducing set with no problems. Reception is excellent. You have to wonder why Apple missed out on this in the first place. An absolute must if you are lucky enough to get hold of one as they are sold out of most stores (unsuprisingly).

I was bought this for christmas by my wife who knows I love my iPod, it goes to work to the gym and on holiday wth me! I usually use it with an armband in teh gym or in my bag on my bike. But oh no! when its in the bag and it shuffles to a song thats not so good what do you do? Stop and change track?
With this little device I can now place the Robi unit on th strap of the bag and keep my precious iPod iside in the warm and the dry! Shuffling, changing volume everything. PLUS*** I can also change to DAB digital radio which works great for me outside in the city (for Planet Rock & Classic FM anyway which is all I listen too) and also FM.
I have had no issues using this with my second gen 4Gb nano, the software version is 1.1.3 so I suggest that anyone having problems upgrade their software through iTunes. I've not noticed significant problems with the batter life, it is marginally reduced as your driving a little bit more electronics, the back light goes off in 5 seconds as per my setting on the iPod, and the unit DOES NOT switch itself off.
Note - the picture is not clear, you can use any headphones you like with this product.
