2 out of 5 stars NOT VERY GOOD APART FROM LOOKS   April 28, 2008

I was looking for a good quality all in one micro for use with an MP3 player in a bedroom. I like Panasonic and have seldom been unhappy with their products, so I was on fairly safe ground I thought. Not so. My concerns started when I got home to find the delivery man had thrown the box over a 7ft high gate onto soaking wet concrete path. Outer and inner box damaged. The unit amazingly was intact. Once out of its box, the unit looks nice, well set out with and simple in operation. The door opening has a nice split upward motion which allows the disc to be placed upright in on the spindle. That's the good bit over with. The sound was pretty much appalling. No power (the clue was in the power output - however I have heard other MP3 speakers eg JBL with similar output that sound great. This sadly does not. Tinny and very muffled boxy bass which overpowered everything else. I tried to make adjustments in the small hope that it was a settings problem, however I soon realised that this was as good as it got. Slightly odd design in that the amp is situated in the left speaker with the right hand speaker feeling so light and flimsy you just knew before it started how poor the sound was going to be. It didnt like coming on sometimes when the standby button was pressed which was a worry given the flying lesson the box had on arrival. So no hesitation in sending it straight back to the awfully nice Amazon people. Another reason to buy Amazon and not Amazon Marketplace traders - try sending things back to them! then see how quick some of them will answer your emails.
All in all a cheap and very poor quality piece of kit which is ill deserving of the Panasonic badge. Funny that Panasonic do not even show this on their website? It only scores 2 because of style of design, but that's it! This is a 50 unit at best and even then I would be hacked off with the sound quality.
