1 out of 5 stars Holder great, tuner awful   September 9, 2008

I'd searched around for a suitable product to mount my iPhone 3G and to transmit music via a radio link.

The mount is great, no complaints. Strong, flexible, easy to use.

This kit however is supplied with an absolutely awful tuner. It never did find a frequency with which it could work without loads of background hiss and crackle. The so-called 'Seek' function quite frequently selected a wavelength occupied by an existing strong broadcast. The tuning unit forms part of the 12v plug assembly which is heavy, unstable and with the absolute slightest bit of movement loses your tuning. It also has buttons arranged around the front which you simply cannot help but touch when trying to re-insert or whatever. Simply a poor piece of technology badly designed.

A friend of mine had a Belkin mains charger/tuner which i decided to compare. It locked onto a station immediately with no noise whatsoever, is much more simple to use and doesn't worry about being knocked or otherwise moved. So i've now bought one of those to go with the Kensington mount included in this set. Wish i could return the Kensington one for refund, it is hopeless.
