 An amazing little unit February 27, 2008

Like other reviewers I have tried several FM transmitters before and have given up with them as they are an absolute pain to use when you are on a journey - you need to keep fiddling about with them to get a good reception station - NOT to be recommended from a safety angle let alone your sanity.
Now to the Belkin iPod Tunebase FM II - what a superb piece of equipment. Its exceedingly well made and the designers have included all the add-on adaptors that you will need for whichever iPod you have. They have also included adaptors in case your auxilliary power (cigar lighter socket) isn't quite right.
Straight out of the packet and into the car, a quick press of the clearscan button, re-tune the radio and WOW - crystal clear and steady reception. Its not often that I am impressed by over exaggerated claims on the packaging but in this case, this unit DELIVERS. Its also a nice looking piece of equipment and looks as though it will last for long enough too. Perhaps you might think its a bit pricey, but my advice - stip wasting your money on cheap units which you will soon chuck. If you want to listen to your iPOd in the car, then this unit is definitely the best investment. Well done to the designers! I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
Oh, nearly forgot - it also charges your iPod - a nice touch and I would think essential if you spend a long time behind the wheel.

I must admit to being a bit dubious when I ordered this unit, having used a cheap FM transmitter previously that just sounded terrible.
The tunebase FM however works a treat. Sound quality is top notch and almost cd-like.
The clearscan function is fantastic and very simple to use, just one push of a button and it automatically finds the best frequency and then it's just a case of tuning the car radio in.
The cradle is also of good quality and grips the ipod well.
All in all, a top quality product!

First off let me say I have only just purchased a third generation ipod nano after refusing to go down the apple route since the ipod first came out all those years ago, how foolish of me because the latest nano combined with the tunebase fm II with clear scan is a joy when you're stuck in the car commuting or travelling with the kids. If your worried about the quality of sound and interference then don't be. I had read and heard many bad reviews about similar products even the ones sold on Apples own website but Belkins reputation and the 'hyping' of the clear scan technology on this convinced me to take the plunge.I drive a plain VW passat with the standard radio but when you let this device plug into your 12v socket and activate the 'clearscan'feature by a simple press of a button on its front,it finds and displays a clear fm frequency, which you then re-tune your cars fm radio display to match and the wonderful clear sound of your ipod is heard as if you were playing a cd, no static or interference. I've had it for a month now and am yet to regret the purchase.You can store 2 frequencies you find, in the memory of the tunebase and then its simply a case of doing the same with your car radio as you would any radio channel.I find this helpful if your going on a long road trip and the initial frequency you find may be in use elsewhere in the country by a local station. Even if these two are not enough it is a doddle to press the clear scan button and find another in seconds. The unit can also boost its transmit sound with a feature called 'pro' which has two boost settings.It has adaptors to hold all of the previous and present Apple Ipod range and they are very easy to clip on and off. One thing of note, if your ipod is in a case you will have to remove it before trying to fit it to the Belkin. It also comes with a line out 3.5mm plug for those who canm plug it onto the jack on your car radio if you have one. (no lead though). My friend has the old model and he is green with envy for this one.

Having searched on many product specs and reviews, this one from Belkin was the only one that had the spec AND high ratings. I have used it for a week now with my 3G Ipod Nano and I am not disappointed - it is BRILLIANT! It has a quality build feel about it, finds a clear frequency easily, the sound is very clear - as good as my CD player, the mount is pretty elexible and solid. It even comes with a whole range of adapters for other IPod models.

Used on day delivered, tuned in and working within minutes of opening pack. Superb sound quality, crystal clear, no interferance.
Two days later, used for a trip to Scotland, needed to retune once but again the quality of sound was amazing. The best purchase I have made.
Added bonus is the cradle to hold your beloved Ipod keeping it safe and in view. Just remember to remove it and hide it away when you leave your car.
