Product Description Now compatible with all full sized dock connector iPods, including the new iPod Video and iPod Nano, Griffin have again produced an excellent FM Transmitter! It sports a bright, backlit LCD display - you'll always know exactly which station you're tuned to. Setting the frequency is easy with the convenient switch on the side of the iTrip. But you won't have to adjust the settings very often -- iTrip remembers its settings for convenience. The iTrip's selectable LX or DX modes of broadcasting allows you to adjust for the absolute best possible audio under real-world conditions. Even in large cities with lots of radio stations crowding the dial, iTrip's DX Mode delivers a clear, punchy signal iTrip Dock Connector requires no batteries, drawing its power directly from the iPod, so there's never a power issue to silence your tunes.

What I've been waiting for!!! November 10, 2006 m.bison (Cheshire, UK) 78 out of 79 found this review helpful
This is a great product! I have bought a FM Car Transmitter before and I got rid of it after a few weeks because the batteries would go dead after a week and I couldn't get a clear enough reception for my iPod songs. This iTrip is fantastic. It doesn't need batteries as it powers itself up directly from the iPod. It connects firmly and neatly into the charging socket of your iPod and there are no annoying loose wires. Best of all, the reception on the car radio is excellent -unless you turn your radio up very loud, there is no static and the words/music of songs are as clear as a CD or a national radio station. Be warned, though ... you need to find an FM frequency that is 99% static with no faint radio station in the background. Even a frequency with a weak, distorted radio station in the background will affect the quality of your iPod songs on the radio - and although it is bearable, it does begin to grate after a while. The iTrip is very easy to use as well. There is only one thing you need to operate to work it and that's the dial on the side. Up and down to match the frequency on the iTrip to the one on your car radio - and then press the dial inwards for it to keep that frequency in its memory. If like me, you have been itching to listen to your iPod in the car for ages, then buy this product ... just make sure you find that perfect FM frequency.
A Great Product with iPod Recharging Facility February 4, 2007 Mr. Peter A. Dabbs 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is a great product, well designed, easy to setup and with a clear display (but don't forget to take the protective sticker off the front otherwise you'll be seeing double!). Powered by the iPod it switches on immediately it's needed and the control at the side to select the frequency & LX or DX mode is easy to use, probably even with not so nimble fingers. But do make sure the car's not moving when you do all this. An added feature which I wasn't expecting is the mini USB port in the base of the iTrip to which you can attach a suitable in car charger. The one that came from Amazon with my Tom Tom One works a treat and there is also a suitable attachment with my Power Monkey if the TomTom is in use, so there is no risk of the iPod's battery discharging. The product itself is worthy of 5 stars & the only reason that I have not awarded 5 is that I cannot get that crystal clear CD quality. The signal varies between adequate to very good - not a problem to me as I only usually listen to the spoken word not music, so that doesn't really affect my enjoyment. However discerning music lovers may find the quality of the signal a little frustrating or they may be lucky just enough to get a perfect one.
does what it says on the, er.. box August 18, 2006 Dj Murray (Twickenham) 40 out of 47 found this review helpful
Absolutely nothing wrong with the iTrip. I have a Golf with an external aerial and drove last week from London to Edinburgh; I only needed to change the frequency once while passing through somewhere in Tyneside (think it was Radio Grimuphere). The signal strength was sufficient to over-ride most local radio stations, and within the M25 I even managed to interrupt the next car's Capital FM with a bit of Radiohead. Excellent solution if you have a CD changer, but no cassette player, and obviously a far smarter solution than drilling holes into your car's dashboard.
Useful, innovative and good quality December 24, 2007 Mr. H. C. Jubb (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
After recently getting a car, I looked into the best way for getting my iPod tunes through the speakers. At 9 and with favourable reviews I ordered this to see if it was up to the task - and it certainly is. Set up is simple, and is literally plug in to the iPod's dock connector, select a frequency and go, with no batteries needed as the iTrip is powered by the pod itself. Although a quick read of the quickstart guide is needed to figure out how, its easy to switch between mono with a stronger signal, and stereo with a less reliable one, however I've noticed little difference in quality between the two. In terms of quality, the sound is more than acceptable, being on a par or slightly above a normal FM radio signal - the bitrate of the song also has some effect on this. Range appears to be variable, and influenced by the objects around the transmitter, however when using with a radio indoors with some doorways in between the device worked even at +8 metres, which is more than acceptable for a car. There are a few downsides, as other reviewers have mentioned, a frequency that is completely static is needed, which can be a minor inconvenience to find if your radio tuner doesn't like tuning to stations without a signal. This is easily solved however, by using a frequency in between two functional stations, setting the iTrip to that, and then searching for the frequency on the tuner. Another downside is that when driving a frequency can be unused in one place and used in another, cutting into your music - this hasn't happened to me yet but is potentially annoying. Also, the transmitter in some cases seems to be picky about being touched, and the signal can start crackling if the transmitter is left in certain positions: but most of the time this hasn't been a big problem. Finally, changing the volume on the iPod itself has no effect on the sound output, which can be seen as a good or bad thing, though when using around the house this has turned out to be an annoyance. Despite some very minor niggles, the iTrip is excellent on the whole, and is a very cheap and effective way of getting your iPod music played through the car or speakers at home. As long as you're not bothered about top audio quality in a huge way, and would rather not drill a hole for an aux input in your car, then its well worth the money.
Fantastic product, very pleased! May 3, 2007 K. J. Argent (Congleton) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Bought the Griffin road trip with charger and holder initially and was thoroughly disappointed. Sent it back and got this instead and it's fabulous. Easy to use, good signal and I can plug it in without taking my protective case off the ipod too so perfect.
