The Ultimate Noise Cancelling Headphones January 26, 2008 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
Having previously owned a pair of CX300's i decided to upgrade to these when they stopped working after 2 and a half years of loyal service. Immediately I noticed the sharper sound that these beauties offered, and they really come into their own when you are in a noisy location as the noise cancellation is almost total. The volume control feature is useful so that you can switch between listening to music and talking to people and as they are made by Sennheiser are very very comfortable.
I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone with a love a music
The only downside is that the pressure created in your ears to cancel foreign sounds does take a lot of getting used to, and some people comment that they cannot cope with it. I don't really understand it, but it is the main critism of these otherwise perfect headphones.
Are they worth the extra 20 than the CX300s? probably not unless you can appreciate the extra quality; these are headphones for the perfectionist
A noticeable improvement over the cx300's January 28, 2008 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
First of all I didn't buy these from Amazon but needed to write a review somewhere.
This came with a ton of accessories - A carrying pouch, a clip, earbuds galour, a cable winder and a volume control.I intially thought that these were cx300s and the price increase was for all the extras - but no.
I noticed the difference in sound straight off.The bass is more deeper and fuller, the treble is crispier AND you can turn the volume up loud with no distortion.A pleasure to listen to.
The cable is of adequate length and seems to be made of a better material than the cx300s.My cx300s lasted less than a year due to cable fracture - I hope these last longer. The volume control is small but does the job very well.
Another thing I noticed was you got more bass with different earbuds - so experiment with them.
If the calbe lasts then this is the best earphone in this price range. I highly recommend them.
An excellent choice for use with an ipod March 17, 2008 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
When looking for some earphones for my ipod classic I read a wide range of reviews and looked at options from SHURE and a number of other manufacturers. I finally opted for the cx500s despite one review site being full of negative comments such as "tinny", "uncomfortable to wear" and "lacks bass".
I can only speak as I find and would say that they compare very well with headphones that cost far more. They may not have the same sound separation as grados (sennheiser produce a more complete sound) but I found they gave a good clear reproduction of what I would expect from an i-pod, good noise isolation and were perfectly comfortable to wear. They also come with a volume control of sorts, on the connection wire. Whilst this is not particularly efficient it is a very useful addition.
I would say there is no need to buy anything more expensive than this -if you are looking for a more defined sound then you will need to set up your hifi. I am listening to Dark side of the Moon through the CX500s as I write this and it sounds as good as ever...
Great headphones for the price! March 11, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Bought these headphones for 35 (amazon market-place), and for the price think they're excellent. Upgraded to these from the cheaper Creative labs alternative , and although they look exactly the same, I could hear the difference straight away.
The CX500s give a much punchier sound without compromising sound clarity. The broad frequency range means they make all types of music sound good. If you like feeling your music rather than just listening to it, but don't want to spend too much, I strongly recommend these.
Well worth it April 15, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have tried many earphones, although not very expensive ones. However, I have always avoided the in ear type like the CX500. I have to say I wish I had taken the plunge sooner. These really are good. They sound smooth, with plenty of bass and volume. They come with lots of options to fit your ear. The inline volume control is very useful.
If you have some cheap earphones and you are not happy with them try these.
