3 out of 5 stars I really wanted to give these 4   December 16, 2008
Mr. D. Lewis (UK)
These headphones... My we've had some times... First let me say i've been through 4 pairs of these, so they're definitely good for something. Their sound is great, even when u buy them at the full 25 rrp they give u the quality ur looking for; strong in the high, low and mid levels and they really keep u in a world of ur own..

So why three stars? Because they don't last in many ways. For one. I have a real hard time keeping these things in my ears; since they're second release when apple changed the little rubber in-ear fittings they seem to be even more air tight and gradually push their way out of a snug fit in my ears, when I can find one! Its as if they u have to work the rubber over time so they become more malleable and do as their told.

After you've finally got these custom fitted over time, you don't really notice it at first but the sound quality starts to slip; not from wear but from wax... Ear wax. Lets face it, we all have it, u can't keep ur ears pristine clean all the time! You can clean these things but its hard without pushing dirt further into the tiny metal grid that the sound comes through. So hats off for the apple's new in-ear mic headphone released this christmas, though i haven't bought them yet...

Lastly the general wear. After a good year n 1/2 maybe, they do start falling apart; around the headphone plug area and especially with the in-ear rubber fittings. They eventually split, meaning u have to start the whole custom fitting process again with a new pair of rubber bits.

Despite their down sides, I just love their sound. And I am fussy when it comes to sound but I think I'll give my 5th pair a miss.
