Great. April 23, 2007 Christopher New (Kent) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I boguht a pair of these from duty free on the way back from holiday as an upgrade from my old headphones. i think these are great, they do exactly what i expected them to do. it takes a while to get used to them but in the end they provide excelent sound quality for the price.
Best headphones I've used, and I've tried quite a few April 19, 2008 Mr. G. S. Messa (Hampshire, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been having such a hard time trying to find a decent pair of in ear headphones since the ones I bought eventually died. These were a pair of JVC ones I bought in Australia and they did just the job but I couldn't find a replacement pair so the hunt began. I have done quite a bit of travelling so will use my headphones extensively, sitting on long bus journeys, flights, the commute to work and then just walking the dog, so I like to think I have tested them for comfort (had some headphones in for about 6 hours without taking them out), ease to travel with, and general quality. I first bought a pair of the Sennheiser CX300's in anticipation of a trip to Indonesia and I was quite disappointed that I had spent 30 because there was so much treble and not much bass, I mean they were good but for 30 I thought they were quite overpriced. So I sent those back and thought I'd spend the cash to get some good ones and bought a pair of the Shure E2C headphones thinking that its a good brand and they wouldn't let me down, wrong. They are so uncomfortable if you leave them in for longer than an hour, your ears go numb because they have to go around the back of your ear and its just not nice, the sound quality was average, about the same as the Sennheiser's, but these were 20 more. So, disappointed with those I bought the Sony MDR-EX71SL things when I got back, and finally I thought I had cracked it, the quality was very good, it was a good brand and they were only about 18, but sadly I lost those in Portugal. So I was back to square one thinking I should just buy a pair of the Sony's again but someone had advised me to buy some skullcandy headphones because they're brilliant and really cheap so I thought for 9 why not and I am just blown away with the quality, they look really good, the bass is fantastic, treble is just fine and they are really comfortable, also the in line volume is really handy if you don't want to delve into pockets or bags to turn it down. You know when you press in ear headphones right into your ear with your fingers you get the best quality sound but then 10 seconds later they work their way out and you lose it, these have got the best fit you have that quality all the time, they are far better than any of the headphones I've tried and they're also the cheapest, I would recommend these outright, don't bother with the expensive ones.
possibly the best in-ear-headphone sound... out of all price categories! March 22, 2008 ALas (Bournemouth, England) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Best sound i've ever had from an in-ear headphone set! These seem to have a better sound quality than a really expensive, supposedly "high-end-hi-fi" headphone set i had bought previously. If you buy this Skullcandy set, try to listen to any kind of spoken word recording as an experiment... it actually sounds completely real!
Buddies November 4, 2008 D. Norman (United Kingdom) Skullcandy Smokin Buds. I have owned these for several weeks now. I can compare them to similar priced ear buds that I have used. One being the Seinhheser CX300. I would say, that the Smokin Buds are a bit better. What I did find with the Buds - they need to be inserted quite well, into the ear. For this reason, a) they don't easily fall out b) the sound quality is much more distinct. The buds deliver quite a good base line. Treble is fairly well detailed. And the mid range is ok. I say this, ... for the price paid. Which, really, given the sound quality makes them very much worth the money. To give a quick judgement on the sound, I would say it is a very clear sound; the drums come out well and the overall definition of vocal and instruments is quite well focused. I did like the fact, that the treble, although not overly bright, was not fizzy as can be the case with some ear buds and pods, of a similar price. To sum up, they do stay in the ears, once you have pushed them well in; they do have quite a good base; the overall sound could be described as being `cold` but I would prefer to call it, a clear sound.
Something to consider... March 31, 2007 P. S. Evans (UK, England, London.) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have owned a pair of Sony MDR-EX71SL, and compare to these they are some what similar to depth of base. However these are lighter and more durable, especially the wire. I bought these to replace the sony ones. I haven't tried bose yet but the prices are way more higher. For the price I wouldn't complain for having these. I would reccomend them to someone wanting an upgrade. The only thing that I don't like about it is the volume control, as I've never used them on headphones before (the reason for 4 stars). If you haven't had the rubber buds in your ears before, they will feel a little wierd. Also bare in mind that they don't allow the ears to breath so well, so if you are to listen for a few hours just take them out for a second and put them in again. Take care of your ears anyway lol. Not bad for [...]. I would definately get them for this price. Also a year warranty. So improve your standard headphones with these rather than sony... oh and definately don't get phillips. Hope this helps.
