Music how it should be heard August 25, 2004 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
I've only owned these phones a couple of hours but I can already say they're a massive improvement on the Sony Fontopia phones I used to own. I can't compare them with any other phones and I'm sure you could get similar quality sound from a decent pair of closed back headphones. But for those looking for earbuds then this is the only choice as far as I'm concerned.I'd only consider the 'in-ear' type when buying earbuds because the conventional type that rest in your ear and are supplied with most portable players are too uncomforatable and don't block out outside noise. So that doesn't leave many choices. These phones are 30 more expensive than Sony Fontopias but in my opinion they're more than worth the extra outlay. All the Sony's have to offer is strong bass, and it's not even well defined. These phones offer MUSIC! The bass is as strong as those fontopias but much clearer. Vocals and midrange practically sing! And the treble is bright without being harsh. They're also very comfortable, and the build quality looks a world apart from those flimsy Sonys.

I left my original iPod earphones on a plane. I wanted to get high quality phones to replace them and really see what the iPod could do. These headphones are absolutely fantastic. The sound is clear, crisp and deep. With isolation the music is the only thing you can hear even on a plane or outside - the music sounds like it's inside you head. The build quality is excellent aswell. One thing to mention is that they fit right inside your ear canal (hence the isolation)which some people may find uncomfortable.
Absolutely blown away by these beauties!!!!! September 14, 2006 A. Hanson (Lancs, UK) 32 out of 33 found this review helpful
I have tried a lot of earphones in the past and always found them lacking in some department - either comfort and practicality or, more importantly for me, sound quality. I have read, as one should, all the previous reviews on the Shure E2C's, some positive and some negative. And I have to say I was so impressed with the quality, sound, and ergonomic design of these earphones, that I am at a loss why anyone would not get on with them. This is the first review I have ever written on Amazon (and I buy a lot of items from here). I was simply compelled to add my positive views on them, and to try to dispel any doubts people may have over purchasing them. They perform outstandingly well, with a full and vibrant range of bass, midtones and trebles. The sound quality is superb, excellent and fantastic. It is true that you need to make sure they fit properly in order to get the full benefit of the sound quality Shure have engineered to perfection, but it really is not difficult to achieve a perfect fit. They come with every size of attachment anyone would need. And once achieved the perfect fit blocks out any exterior sound without fail. I am travelling transatlantic in a couple of days and will be wearing my Shure E2C's for the full 8.5 hour flight, without any concerns. Trust me all you doubters - the bass is not lacking, the sound is not a let down, the useless earphones you got supplied with your player are NOT better than these. There is no contest - these are by far the best earphones I have ever used, and I am a fussy beggar when it comes to my audio requirements. BUY THEM - you wont regret it!!!!
Sound clear as water November 23, 2004 L. BENITO DE VALLE (UK) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I bought mine last week to improve sound in my new Sony NW-HD1 net walkman. If you, as I am, are paranoid about hi-fi and have a proper mp3 player, MD or similar, this is the right step. The midrange of the E2c is out of this world, sounding warm and natural. The treble is pristine, even at high volume. The bass is quite controlled and blend properly with the mid-tones without blurring the stereo image, as cheap models do. If your portable have got an equaliser, you can enhance a little bit the low frecuencies and the E2c will take it without any problem, giving you a powerful and warm sound. They are confortable to wear and can adapt to any adult ear with no problem and they are built to last. It may look expensive but the improvement achieved is just incredible for their size/price and you're not goin to wear Sennheisers HD600 on the street because of the quality!). (I own several top models headphones including AKGs & Sennheisers and also several in-ear like the fontopia from Sony -they will have a long rest now-). This is the real thing.
Stunning sound! September 1, 2004 Richard Smith 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Having just bought an I-River HP140 I was looking for some quality isolating headphones to get the best out of it.Spent a couple of days researching on the web and these always seemed to get a good review. Fair enough, I'll give them a go I thought... I didn't expect them to be this good! If you make sure they're fitted properly (read the instructions - I thought they were rubbish before I did so!), then the sound is fantastic. Bass is tight and articulate, sound is clean and transparent, and the soundstage is wide open. They blow my old Senheiser 320's out of the water. If you've invested 200 plus on an mp3 player of any description then you simply must get these phones to do it justice. Fantastic buy!
