Great except battery life could be better. June 4, 2008 Rebecca Bowman (England) 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
Bought one of these about a month ago and I take it with me everywhere! I had lost my iPod shuffle while on holiday and was just going to replace it with another shuffle when I spotted the iPod Touch. Immediately I tried talking my self out of purchasing one because it didn't exactly fit into my budget, but seeing as my boyfriend had just spent 200 on a radio controlled petrol fueled car, I figured I could treat myself too! My favourite feature on it by far is the wireless access. I've set my two email accounts up to it and I love that I can quickly sign in from anywhere that has wireless internet. It's pretty convenient for when you're settling into bed at night and realise you forgot to respond to that email you meant to during the day! The touch screen is great, I never find myself having to tap too firmly or more than once to navigate my way around. The keyboard can take some getting used to, but it's nice that it has an auto spell check that fixes words for you as soon as you finished typing them. The image quality is incredible, and I love that I can store photo's on it as well. An absolute MUST is a protective cover of some kind. And buy it at the same time you purchase the Touch because you won't make it through a whole day without scratching it somewhere without one. The only thing I've been slightly disappointed in, is the battery life. I haven't timed it yet, but I have to charge it much, much more often than I ever had to with my shuffle. That thing would last for weeks without having to be recharged! The Touch can barely go a few hours of use before it's worn out. As long as you take the charging cord with you and have access to a computer to plug it in for a while, it's not too bad. Other than that I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it!
Converted- Fantastic Product March 24, 2008 Jack Percival (Surrey, UK) 42 out of 43 found this review helpful
I bought this product as a skeptic of whether the touchscreen would be sensitive enough and if it would be easy to type on and use. I was instantly converted t their way of thinking (and feeling) - the touchscreen gestures and typing immediately appeared as intutive and made doing wanted easy to learn and use. The internet is simple to browse, the range of applications is amazing (and soon to be extended by a Software development kit) and the maps have replaced my GPS. Whilst the location system doesn't work in the UK (yet) you can download your route onto the device and then just follow the instructions on screen. The mail app is just as simple- its truely an iPhone without the phone. Positives Easy to use touch screen with some excellent applications and extendability- becomes a true portable companion Negatives Low amount of storage space for people with big music collections and constantly having to clean the scren. Also the possibility of having to pay for the "App Store" when it is released. The Last Word A real extension of the iPod brand with some fantastic additions
Amazing, breakthrough product February 20, 2008 R M 44 out of 48 found this review helpful
I own this iPod and have used it for about three weeks now. I have to say, I'm amazed by this gadget. Like the iPhone, the iPod touch truly seems like a breakthrough device. Sure it does music very well -you can even purchase and download songs wirelessly--but I've found that I've been using it's other features more... email, Internet surfing, Google Maps with its GPS-like location feature, YouTube videos, notes, contacts, etc. All accessed free with any wireless connection. What's amazing to me about this product is not only all the features it has, but how well it does them all. It speaks volumes that the included user manual is only a few pages. I think it's because you can just pick up an iPod touch and it just almost effortlessly does what you'd like it to do. The typing can be a bit awkward the first day or so, but if you can send text on a mobile, this is much easier than that, in my opinion, as there's built-in automatic spelling correction. Get one and be amazed.
ipod Touch - Ohhh Yeah April 16, 2008 P. Foster (Kent, UK) 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I brought my wife one for her birthday as she likes technology that "just works" and she loves it. After learning how everything else works herself (not getting me to do the bits she didn't like which is unheard of in our house) she downloaded the update using itunes wirelessly and now sends and receives e-mails to friends and family somthing shes never done before even though she's owned 3 laptops. Her argument being its just so easy :) I love it and can safely say it's the best gadget I've ever brought and I have a shed load of them. As my birthday is coming up I will definately be dropping massive hints for the 8gb Touch even if its just so I can sit in Starbucks or the local pub and send e-mails or download reviews and cinema times :) at Bluewater.
Awesome iPod Touch July 23, 2008 K. Sehdev (Windsor, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the iPod Touch a couple of weeks ago and am in love with it. This is such an awesome piece of equipment. It is so easy to navigate around the menus. The music function is excellent, I especially like how you can scroll through the album art by turning the iPod landscape. The video playback is excellent. The app store is a really good feature as you can download apps to use, some are free. I got a sports app which shows live scores for the NBA, MLB, NFL, football, tennis... The internet function is really neat and I was able to connect to my WiFi network at home quickly and with no fuss. Accessing email is also a good function, altough you have to be near a wireless network to access them. The only negatives are the battery life and the fact that there is no flash player to view videos on the internet (apart from the youtube app alreasy on). It doesn't take long for the battery to drain even without watching video I have found. Overall this is an excellent product and worth purchasing if you don't want to get the iPhone. This is basically the same apart from the phone capabilities.
