Great piece of kit September 13, 2008 Mark Scott (London, UK) 180 out of 184 found this review helpful
Arrived on the 12th September. First impressions box looks impressive. The touch did not disappoint. This latest version has a slimmer profile, a speaker, external volume control and comes with version 2.1 although I still had to update the firmware.
Very similar spec to the 1st version. Easy to use and loads apps to download. The internet browser is easy to zoom in with and connecting to home wifi worked fine. Loads of applications to add from itunes, lots of them free. Downloaded a video and that looks great too.
You do need to connect the touch to a PC with itunes first as you cannot just connect to wifi and use it without sync'ing it first.
Well worth the money a great gadget you will have fun playing with for a long time to come.
Battery life - Had it on all day today listerning to music and connect to my home wifi. Lastest about 13 hours before warning that the battery was down to 20%. Obviously if I had turned off the wifi it would have lasted longer
Great quality for money December 3, 2008 C. Taheri 26 out of 27 found this review helpful
Considering that this is pretty much the new generation of technology it excites me everytime I get it out. I have absolutely fallen inlove with it, however because of the cost I am slightly scared to pull it out on the bus home as people in Birmingham don't have the best tendancies ;) However the wireless connectivity is great, I can sit in my room and still have no problem accessing my wireless from several rooms away. The sound is great from the built in speakers and that was a completely added bonus as I had no idea the new generation has that. The first time I started it up itunes found it quickly and the automatic set-up was quick and painless and the iPod was ready for use within less than half an hour. It's extremely thin however is quite long but I find it still fits snugly in my pockets. Graphics are great and battery life is average I find. Youtube really is an added bonus but you can't watch them without an internet connection (obviously). Considering the iPhone is pretty much double the price, this is amazing for the price. The warrantees an added bonus and amazon are always great and fast. One can also purchase silicon cases for cheap but they're not necessary as the screen is pretty much scratch resistent. The only fault I have with this is the earphones really but that's nothing as they are just too big for my ears and give me a head ache, but that was an easy and cheap fix. So well done, no regrets on this one!
Apple iPod Touch 16GB - 2nd Gen February 4, 2009 RFC (Bucks, England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
What a brilliant product! I was new to Apple products as I had tried to resist Apple's dominance in the music player business, but reluctantly gave in because so many products are designed to work with them eg connectivity in cars, speakers with docks etc. But the iPod Touch is such a fantastic product I am completely bowled over. Everything about it has a feel of quality and sophistication and best of all works well. The touch screen leaves all others I have used, eg sat nav, in the dark ages. The wi fi connection works anywhere in my house where laptops struggle. I can watch the BBC iPlayer on the TV etc etc (with the correct lead) Brilliant!
One caveat though, you do have to accept Apples way of doing things eg music etc from the Apple Store. If you want to do things differently from the way Apple wants you to do then, perhaps this isn't the product for you. For me,for me Five Stars!

I dont like Apple products generally, but the new Ipod Touch is the coolest and most functional item I have ever bought. It really has that "wow!" factor and does everything you would want from an MP3 and then loads more. Plus you can easily, finally, load mp3s from your computer to the IPOD. You can surf the internet easily and comfortably - no more fiddling about this makes surfing on a small device practical and simple. Viewing youtube is also a big boost and it looks great. Same comments go for the email, photo viewer, map etc. etc... It is just one superbly designed piece of equipment that seems to know exactly what the customer wants. It is a little expensive but I paid 229 euros for the 8GB and that was from europe and I must say it is worth it. Hats off to Apple.
It's the best at what it does February 27, 2009 Mr. Mc Stephenson Wills (Suffolk, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
There are many complaints about this product, and I'm not going to pretend this is perfect, but some complaints are ridiculous.
"Ooh, it's locked itno iTunes!" That could be said of ALL iPods, it's not a specific fault of the iPod touch, it is the fact that Apple (of whom I have mixed feelings) lock all their iPods into iTunes. I will disclaim this complaint as it's not specific to this model.
"But, you can't play Divx files!" Get a video converter, many of them are free, and will convert your Divx files onto a format the iPod can read.
"Wah, it's too much money, Apple overprice everything." Well the way I think of it, it's good value. A Sony PSP will set you back around £150, around the same price as the 8GB model of this iPod. The 8GB has the same capabilities as the PSP minus the UMD (same graphics, music, video, internet surfing capabilities) plus the iPod has so much more. It has more storage space (depending on the model you buy) and the app store. Not to mention straight out of the box it has a calculator, contacts, world clock (with alarms) and several other uses.
The touch screen works better than I expected, it's fairly responsive (but I did notice some lag), and browsing through song lists is very easy and quick. All in all, it's a great all rounder. Sure there are other players with better sound quality, or better screens, or less price. But you won't find one that does everything the way this does.
