i have bought the vmodo's and 4vi's and in my opinion they have the best sound look every bit as smart. some prefer the heavier bass of vmoda's but to me it doesn't sound balanced or natural. i do love the fabric sheathed cables on vmoda's better as they never tangle but i think they also make them noisier if you're exercising with them and bumping them constantly.
a side not the best earphones i found to date for ipod are audio technica but they don't make ones that fit the iphone yet...
