Samsung YP-Z5 2GB April 14, 2006 K. Woodcock (Worcestershire,UK) 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
Did a lot of research beforehand & almost bought a creative until I saw the size! The YP-Z5 exudes quality & with a quoted 35 hour battery life it sold itself. I have used it more or less constantly on a return flight to New York & is still showing over half charged. Sound quality from the supplied headphones is excellent with plenty of bass although ear bud type may be more comfortable. Menu`s are user friendly & colour screen a nice size. My son prefers it to his ipod nano!
Well impressed May 4, 2006 live and loud (uk) 29 out of 29 found this review helpful
If your looking for your first Mp3 player look no further, after a lot of research and trying a few out this was by far the best. You get to hear all abut the big names in the Mp3 and ipod world like Apple etc but they are not always the best one to go for. I was quite suprised to find Samsung made an Mp3, but the unit is solid and well made, and the functions are easy to use. With the large colour screen and massive battery life go for it!!! You wont be disapointed.
Ipod second to Z5 May 25, 2006 Stuart E (Scotland!!) 37 out of 38 found this review helpful
I've never been a fan of ipod nano's I'm one of the few who really dislikes the itunes software so it was a relief to see this little gadget hit the market, it's simple to use(interface similar to nano) although the touch sensitive pad isnt as acurate as the classic scroll wheel it is still very good. One thing I noticed was the formatted capacity was greater than the ipod nano, 1.95gb over 1.65 meaning although they are both 2gb players this one holds more music. The volume also goes louder and the battery life double that of the ipods. If you want a compact mp3 player but don't want to jump on the ipod bandwagon this player is better, louder, sexier and most of all doesn't use itunes.
So much better than my last one! January 13, 2007 K. Renshaw (Derbyshire) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got this as a replacement for a Creative Zen V that had packed up on me within 9 weeks or so. It's fast to navigate, sounds every bit as good, so I'm hapy with the swap I've made! Was extremely quick to pop all my music files onto this. Cheaper than an i-pod, not as flashy looking, but I just want a nice reliable MP3 player to keep me company on journies to work. Don't think this one will let me down .....
An excellent player, but reliability and service may be a problem January 5, 2007 John Boy (Bristol United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As a first time user, I was really surprised by the quality of the sound (WMA 192 kbps)and the ease of use of this player. Although Windows Media Player 10 is mentioned, WMP 11 also works well for ripping and syncing. Upgrading the earphones to Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3, ripping at WMA 320, and setting DNSe to Studio improves the sound still further. The earphones could be an easier fit and it's easy to miss the foam covers in the box, but nothing to complain about. Once you adapt to the light touch required to scroll the menu, the remaining small niggle is the occasions that you wait about 15 seconds whilst it boots; the screen only shows "Samsung" whilst this happens. The weak spot for this otherwise excellent player may be reliability and support. After two months, the 'hold' button failed, locking the player so that it was unusable. Samsung allow themselves (an unpublished) 28 days to repair the unit. In my case, the repairer didn't know the part number and the Samsung support team could not advise when it would be repaired. I eventually came to the end of my tether and contacted Amazon, as I had purchased the player from them directly. Amazon were professional and helpful, and, although the player was lodged with Samsung's repairer, Amazon gave me a full refund on the production of the Special Delivery receipt. I've given 5 stars as the Samsung player is a good alternative to an iPod, and although I will never buy another Samsung product, my experience may differ from yours. On the other hand, my first port of call for on-line shopping is Amazon.
