These speakers have got the look...beautifully made, their funky retro-futuristic bulbous lines, looking like a one-eyed whistling alien, look great anywhere. They are made in lots of colours, and it's a matter of taste, but to me the blue looks best with that yellow kevlar driver.
But for many people, speakers have to do more than look good, they have to sound good. Do they deliver? Well, the verdict is a bit mixed. The high end is crisp and fast and clean. The mid is a little cloured and other makes are better performers here, but they are reasonably communicative. The bass is variable...there is some weight here and they sound bigger than their diminutive looks, but only certain notes benefit, and it is a bit up and down. Overall, acceptable rather than thrilling. For the less money, you could buy a pair of B&W 601's. This proven design has been going (in numerous incarnations and various version numbers) for many many years...and you will get a really cohesive grown-up sound. But they are dull, boring boxes next to the uber-cool pods. Verdict? Looks 5 stars, build quality 4 stars, sound quality 3 1/2 stars.
