5 out of 5 stars Impressive!   December 31, 2008

I was drawn to this player by it's ability to play AVI's as I have a few movies in that format that I would normally have to go the the time and trouble of converting to AVC to be able to play on my older mp4 player.

I must admit to being a bit sceptical as it seems to offer a lot for very little money.

It comes in a box with included earphones, neck strap, instruction manual (which is clearly laid out and easy to follow) and CD. The CD has a link to the TrekStor website for updates, support etc, an avi converter and a PDF copy of the instruction booklet.

The player itself is compact, slim and very light.

I'm impressed! It does what it says. Charged up via USB in a couple of hours and simply drag and drop files to it, it's very simple to use.

I tried an AVI I already had on my hard drive and the player didn't recognise it. I ran it through the included AVI converter which is very simple to use, just add your movie, select your player model and press convert. The conversion took about 4 minutes (for a full length movie!) and it played fine, both picture and sound were remarkably clear.

The FM radio works fine using the included earphones which to be honest I wasn't expecting much from but the sounds clear enough.

MP3's again no problem and it has the following play modes; Normal, Repeat track, Repeat all, Folder play, Folder repeat, Intro and Shuffle.

Worth mentioning, this player does not have resume playback on MP3 and to be fair the product description doesn't say it does and therefore I haven't knocked any points off my rating because of it (hopefully TrekStor will read this and maybe provide it in a future update)

With resume playback this player would be perfect - my reason for wanting it? I like to play audio books on MP3 and it's a pain to have to search for where I left off.

In summary, a great player and surprisingly good value for money.
