Video - A genuine reason to buy!, September 10, 2007 Alberto Frog (Sunny Sheffield) 56 out of 56 found this review helpful
Picked one of these up on the High St. today (Apple Store) & I am very impressed. Had been holding off buying an addition/upgrade for my old 3gen Ipod which still works OK until Apple were able to offer me a reason to get another. I wanted video playback but couldn't justify a new full size Ipod - so was delighted when video available on the new Nano. Very small & compact - less than the size of a credit card but approx 3 times as thick. Spilt screen / Cover Flow & Battery Life all very slick & impressive. Only slight doubt is it worth an extra 30 for the 8gb - Maybe not I've encoded 3 full length films (using Clone DVD mobile) & have 300 songs & still have 4gb free - How much media do you actually need for a holiday / train journey / flight etc? Highly Recommended!!!
My opinion September 8, 2007 Matt Ledger (Ipswich, UK) 69 out of 70 found this review helpful
I just read Mr Pickles review so thought I ought to give my alternative opinion and also point out that my suspicion is that he has not actually used the new nano's! I admit that in pictures the new nano's proportions look a little odd but when you get your hands on it it starts to make sense, the key is size of the body, at only 6.5mm thin it feels really stunning and looks great. It is also good to note that the price of the new 8GB nano (WITH VIDEO PLAYBACK!!) is the same price as the previous nano was for 4GB! The new video playback feature of the nano did worry me a little as the screen is only 2 inches diagonally but it turns out that the screen has exactly the same number of pixels as the iPod video's screen had so still looks really good. The battery is also able to play up to 5 hours of video which is really nice or up to 24 houers of music (which is more than I will ever need!) The final thing to mention is the new Cover Flow feature which lets you flick through your album covers to find music (not really a reason to buy the iPod but looks really cool!)
You'll have to have it but won't know why! October 13, 2007 L. Hughes (Lancashire, UK.) 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
This is my fourth ipod and yet again I have updated even though I was perfectly happy with the one before!!! The new nano is great, keeps the small compact size of its predecessors but with yet more nifty little features that youll be showing to everyone who will listen. Compared to the previous nano it can now of course play videos as well as music and storing photographs which is great! You can even divide by TV, Podcast or Video/Films. Whats more the album cover show is ideal for swiftly moving between your favourite albums! Pros: Great new colours Video Playback Album Cover Flow Larger screen than previous models Cons: Back is very easy to scratch - you definately need a case! If you already own an ipod theres no need to purchase unless youve currently got less memory or you want the video playback but this device is perfect for any ipod lover!
great little ipod September 23, 2007 Emily Bronte (North West UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I had an old mini ipod which served me well until I saw the new ipods and wanted the video playback. For 8gb it is the same price as the 4gb nano of old so I think it is worth it. I love the size and the colour and the colourful screen. I have 945 songs so far and will have space for video too. It's great, what's not to like?
Fantastic device and so stylish November 30, 2007 G. Horsham (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is our thrid iPod Nano (first of this new generation) and it is fantastic. Love them or hate them, you cannot grumble about what iPods offer. Being hyper-critical, the screen is probably about as small as you should sensibly go to watch videos without requiring 20-20 vision and a magnifying glass; iTunes is not the best software going for sync'ing media between a media device and a PC; most of the built in software to the iPod is not of any real use (doubt many user sync their contacts and no point of an alarm if you need to have earphones to hear it). As a complete package though, it is superb and relatively easy to use. It is reliable and it is so stylish too. An all round winner!
