High-capacity 3.7v iPod battery Fast charge capable Easy to follow detailed video instructions (English French German Japanese) on included CD-ROM All tools included to perform the installation The Register Review: The Sonnet iPod battery replacement pack was recently reviewed by The Register and received an impressive review: I more than doubled my player's run-time for a fraction of the cost of the comparable-capacity iPod Nano I'd been considering as a replacement...This is one of the best upgrade packages I've seen doubly so since it's pitched at a device Apple never intended to be upgradeable. I'd recommend it to all owners of older iPods.....

I had no trouble with the tools supplied to open the ipod, and the job was over in 5 minutes flat, couldn't be easier.

3 out of 5 stars insufficient tools, but worked out in the end   March 27, 2007

The plastic tools that come with this kit were insufficient to open my ipod. I needed a very small, flat-bladed screwdriver to manage the initial prizing-open of the case. I did nearly strip lever-bit off through several attempts to open the 'pod the way the video instructed, so beware of that. Other than that, the tools were useful.

I've noticed that metal -and- plastic tools come with some of Sonnet's other replacement kits. The concern with using metal is scratching the case, but this did not happen to me. Maybe those are the ones to go for if you haven't got a micro screwdriver and a kit is available for your iPod type.
All in all, the operation was a success - the battery spec is higher than that of the original battery and the instructions were clear. One additional helpful bit of advice not provided with the kit is to use both tools simultaneously, as you would a set of tire-levers. This makes it much easier to keep the initial crack in the iPod case open.
